WAMkey the Solution to Removing Crowns and Bridges |
How to use the WAMkey |
| The WAMkey® is a new product that is solution for effective and painless removal of crowns and bridges. With WAMkey® you will not alter the margins of the crown or bridge, so you will be able to use it again, either permanently or temporarily. In addition, WAMkey® is totally painless, as it avoids all the lateral movements on adjacent teeth that could be generated while splitting the crown with other types of instruments. Since the essential parts are not split, the crown is preserved. And in most cases, a simple repair is enough, and can be performed directly after removal with a composite. WAMkey® is a 3-instrument set, which allows you to begin with the smallest instrument to insure accuracy. The technique is quick and easy to perform. After a few removals with WAMkey ®, it is possible to save more than 80% of crowns. Most crown removals can be performed in under three minutes. | | |

| Firstly, locate the most accessible spot on the crown. The goal is to reach the cement layer located between the occlusal surface of the abutment and the inner side of the crown itself. |
| Secondly, drill a thin horizontal hole in the crown. |
| Finally, after having checked that the hole is at the cement level, deepen the hole until it reaches the centre of the tooth preparation. |
| Then, slightly extend the hole to form a horizontal rectangle. |
| Finally, after systematically testing the fit of each of the 3 WAMkeys® a simple rotation on the handle of the appropriate Wamkey® will remove the crown. In many cases, one can be fooled into thinking that the WAMkey® is meeting no resistance; even the patient may feel nothing at all. So watch and listen carefully... |
The Main Points
1. WAMkey® removes the crown along its vertical axis. As it is free, the crown is looking for the less resistant way. Therefore, unwanted pressure on the tooth and on the prosthesis is minimised.
2. WAMkey® exerces pressure on the supporting tooth, which gradually increases until the crown is removed (there's no impact ).
3. WAMkey® dissociates the crown from its abutment without any traction or bascular movement. Thus, there is no risk to fracture the tooth. The main parts of the crown (margins, occlusal face and contact points) are preserved. Moreover, the entry hole (necessary to remove crowns with WAMkey ®) can in many cases be burred into the lingual face.
Therefore an eventual provisional or permanent reset is possible after a single hole filling. The chances of promptings on such a filling are particularly low, thus there is no risk of infiltration.
